prazdnik_ee_parfino1On September 22, 2017, in Parfino in the Novgorod region, where the energy efficient multi-family house was built with the support of the UNDP-GEF Project, the Festival of energy savings was held for primary school children.

prazdnik_ee_parfino2The festival was organized by the administration of the Parfino municipal district with the support of UNDP-GEF Project "Building energy efficiency in the North-West of Russia". It was attended by about 100 students from Parfino, Sergeevo, Fedorkova and Pola. The elementary school students studied issues of energy savings for 3 years with the use of teaching materials developed under the UNDP-GEF Project.

prazdnik_ee_parfino3The experience of operating an energy-efficient home, built with the support of the Project in 2016, showed the necessity of residents' education from childhood on the issues of proper energy-efficient home operation. The students also participated in a fun quiz which took the form of an entertaining game. The game tested the students' knowledge of greenhouse effect issues, energy savings, and environmental protection, and has become a test for the students and teachers on the quality of knowledge assimilation on these issues.

The celebration was also attended by the head of Administration, N. Hatuntsev, representatives of the district administration, and the Novgorod region. Chief Technical Advisor on the implementation of the Project's educational components, A. Moskalyov, donated 500 copies of new educational materials developed by the Project to continue exploring sustainable energy use, energy savings, and the reduction of greenhouse gases for students of primary and secondary schools
