The experience of the Project on creation of the municipal energy management was presented in the business program on the Expo-2017 in Astana Print

astana_expo17_1The opening ceremony of the Eighth Forum was attended by the Executive Secretary Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Shamshad Akhtar, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Olga Algaerova, assistant to the UN Secretary-General, assistant to the administrator of the UNDP, Director of Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS, General Commissioner for EXPO-2017 Cihan Sultanoglu, Chair of the Association KAZENERGY Timur Kulibayev.

 

astana_expo17_2The delegation of the UNDP-GEF Project "Building energy efficiency in the North-West of Russia", headed by the National Director Igor Kozhukhovsky, participated in an active part in the business program of the forum, presenting the results of the Project on introduction of system of municipal energy management on the example of the Pskov region.

 

Also on June 12 under the session of the UN Economic Commission (UNECE) "Energy saving in buildings" to promote best practices in development of energy saving projects in the construction industry Project Manager Vitaly Bekker presented an overview on the results of the pilot of construction of residential municipal houses and capital repairs of public sector facilities implemented within the UNDP-GEF Project "Building energy efficiency in the North-West of Russia". During the presentation developments were noted on the educational direction, in particular, establishing a system of continuing education in the field of energy efficiency, from primary school to the "Institute of the third age". Vitaly Bekker also presented the overview of the programs produced for elementary, secondary and higher educational institutions. The participants highly appreciated the experience gained in the Russian Federation within the UNDP-GEF Project, and also expressed an interest in the replication of the measures in similar projects in other countries.

 

astana_expo17_3In continuation of the business program of the EXPO-2017, on June 14 under the session on the development of "Smart Cities" expert of the Project for implementation of the EMIS Andrey Dodonov presented the experience on implementation of urban management of energy resources in the Pskov and the Vologda regions. The results obtained by the Project in Russia, was highly appreciated by the participants and aroused a great interest for replication in other countries. In particular, negotiations were held with representatives of similar Projects of UNDP in Serbia and Kazakhstan.

 

Overall, the forum was attended by over than 2600 speakers and delegates. Representatives from over 300 local and international media representatives were involved in editorial publicity of the Eighth Forum. Discussions at the Eighth Forum and Ministerial conference helped to understand how the UN system can assist countries and business communities in achieving and realizing the agenda for sustainable development.
